Volunteer info & shift schedule
We understand that everyone is short for time these days. We couldn’t do it without our volunteers! We want our consignors and customers to enjoy this experience and appreciate volunteers with smiling faces who are cheerful & friendly. Thank you so much for volunteering.
You do not have to be a consignor to be a volunteer. If you do not wish to consign at this sale but do want to take advantage of the pre-sale by volunteering…we welcome you!
Children are not permitted to accompany you while you volunteer. The sale will be very busy & crowded. They will have more fun home with neighbors or family members. Please arrange a sitter or perhaps take turns babysitting with other parent’s you know who have volunteered.
What’s involved? Love to shop? Volunteer with us and help others shop by offering assistance in finding sizes or suggesting items to purchase. We also could use assistance in set-up & break down of racks & shelving (husbands welcome), check-in items and put on sales floor, organize items by similarity, assist customers, check out and help with a watchful eye (unfortunately shoplifters exist). General sales floor volunteers help keep our isles clear, items neatly organized and in their proper place.
We hope you take advantage of the volunteer benefits:
- Shop before everyone else for the best selection and great prices!! Volunteer pre-sale Thursday before public sale. If you sign up to volunteer during the pre-sale you are welcome to come in 1 hour before you volunteer to shop the pre-sale. We ask that you finish shopping by 4pm to begin volunteering.
- Consignors who also volunteer can earn 5% more of their sales by volunteering for a 3 hour shift (60% of sales on their items). Volunteer for two 3 hour shifts (6 hours) and earn 10% more (65% of sales on their items). Send your husband to volunteer one shift…we could use the extra muscle during set-up and break-down...and the extra eyes for security.
- You do not have to be a consignor to volunteer. Non-consigning volunteers do not receive monetary compensation like consignors do because they aren't selling anything so there is not "increase in sales reward". However, they are rewarded by earning the priviledge to shop the pre-sale first & the longest (before consignors & new mom's) from 4pm - 7pm.
- Pre-sale passes will be given out at the door during the pre-sale event. Your name will be on a list at the door and checked. These are non-transferable.
Pre-sale shopping schedule:
6hr shift volunteers
4 - 7pm
3hr shift volunteers5 - 7pm
Consignors 6 - 7pm
New parents 6 - 7pm
Avertising sponsors6 - 7pm
Cancellations: Please consider this commitment carefully and make sure you are available before you sign up to volunteer. Because we rely heavily on our volunteers and their help in maintaining a high quality sales event, we hope you understand our need for such policies. All volunteers must be on time to insure proper & constant floor coverage for customers.
If you are unable to fulfill your volunteer commitment, please notify us immediately by calling 410-603-3925. It is your responsibility to find a replacement. If you are unable to find a replacement and are a no show, your consignor sales percentage will be lowered to 40%. In addition, you will not be permitted to sign up as a volunteer at future sale events or participate in future volunteer pre-sales. Deadline for cancellations is Friday prior to the pre-sale by 5pm. Any cancellations after that time will be subject to the policies stated above. Some extenuating circumstances will be considered.
Short on time? If volunteering during sale hours doesn't fit in your schedule there are other things that need to be done “behind the scenes.” You MUST email us at coastalkidsale@yahoo.com to sign up for these opportunities. We only have a few of these passes available.
Media Coverage: if you have contacts in the media (TV, Radio or Newspaper) and can pull some strings to cover our event for free, you will earn a HUGE thank you from us and two passes for the 5 - 7pm Pre-Sale on Thursday. Please email us with your contact info and more details on what is involved.
Yard signs: do you live or travel near a busy road or intersection, school or daycare, or other family friendly business? We need volunteers to post and keep track of 5 yard signs. Please ask before you post a sign in yards or places of business. We don't want to violate any county codes and need our signs back. Post the signs before the sale then pull them after the sale and return them to us on Saturday (last day of sale) by 3pm at the sale location. In exchange you will receive one pass for the 5 - 7pm pre-sale on Thursday. We have a master list of places to post the signs and a volunteer who coordinates sign placement who is always open to suggestions.
Flyer distribution: looking for help distributing flyers to are businesses, schools and daycare facilities. We have a master list of places to distribute and will give you the flyers and places to distribute....just need you to come pick them up and deliver! In exchange you will receive one pre-sale pass for 5pm - 7pm shopping time.
